It has been estimated that if approximately 30% of EVs in the EU adopt bidirectional charging, V2G could deliver up to 21 TWh of upward and 24 TWh of downward grid flexibility by 2030, potentially saving between €11 and €29 billion annually in distribution grid investments.* With increasing policy support and technological advances, the EU is well positioned to transform V2G from promising pilot projects into a core component of its sustainable, resilient energy system.

image Organised by the Smart Grid Observer, the V2X Business, Policy and Technology Forum EU, 25-26 November 2025 in Amsterdam, will convene top industry experts and utility professionals to discuss the potential, progress and hurdles facing widespread deployment of V2X in the EU. Results from V2X demonstrations and trials will be discussed with an eye toward refining business models and policies, identifying technologies, and overcoming current challenges facing V2G / V2X rollout in the EU.
